2007 Springs Competition

This was a highly competitive meet held in Wellington. With some of the top swimmers from around the country challenging for contention onto the NZ Team to the 2008 Bejing Olympics.

It was a fantastic opportunity for Kiwi West Swimmers to be able gain valuable experience at a competition of such great talent. Kiwi West Aquatics placed 25th= with 9 swimmers; with North Shore in 1st place with 33 swimmers.

Meet Highlights

  • Bridget Maher broke her own Manawatu Age group record for the 800m freestyle by 7.29 seconds and gained 4 personal best times.
  • Troy Greenem made into 4 finals, It was great to see Troy back in form, contending very strongly for a medal in the finals and gaining 3 personal best times along the way.
  • Jenna Buchanan made it into 5 finals with a bronze medal for the 100m Butterfly & gaining 3 personal best times.
  • Jenna also receives the Purple Heart for swimming while wounded with two broken bones in her foot.
This was a tough competition with all the swimmers entered gaining valuable meet experience, Kiwi Swimmers had a great result 25th Nationally and Top club in the Manawatu Region.
