Kiwi Allstars Swimathon 2007
Swimathon 2007
While everyone in New Zealand was sleeping in on Queens Birthday Monday the kids of Westend Aquatics were up and swimming to raise money for the Kiwi Allstars Swim Team who will be competing in Hawaii at the beginning of July 2007.
The swimathon was a great success with the club achieving its fund raising target for the swim team heading off to the Keo Nakama Invitational Swim Meet. The event was well supported by the Kiwi West Aquatic Club Members, Non-Club members and members of the public.
Swimming started at 8.00 a.m. and ended at 8.00 p.m. A celebrity race was held during the day with swimmers from each of our sponsors. Jason Morris swimming for Freedom Honda took out the celebrity race with Andrew Nicholls for Westend Aquatics close behind in 2nd and Lee Yates swimming for Colorado Clothing in 3rd.
Winners of our Family Relays were:
- 1st Place. Team Morris - Sue, Jason, Aimee and friend Sarah
- 2nd Place. Team Buchanan - Lee, Sara, Jenna & part time fairy Troy
- 3rd Place. Team Van der Spuy - Ben, Leandri, Nadine & Bernard
- winners of the best costume were the Buchanans with their fairy costumes - Everybody loves a fairy
So thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event for getting out there and supporting our swimmers. A special thank you to Jan Harris as the chief orgnisor and Barry Morris who's input was greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to our sponsors; MacDougalls Ltd, Freedom Honda, Cinnemons Hair, Tony’s Tyre Service, Colorado Clothing, Westend Aquatics.
